Livingston Gymnasium, Denison University, Granville, OH
Set 1: The Landlady > My Sweet One, Split Open and Melt, Bouncing Around the Room > Rift, Cavern, Fluffhead > Maze, Sweet Adeline[1], Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove
Set 2: Axilla > The Curtain > Chalk Dust Torture, My Friend, My Friend, All Things Reconsidered, Uncle Pen, Llama, Hold Your Head Up > Love You > Hold Your Head Up, Dinner and a Movie > David Bowie -> Baby Elephant Walk[2] -> David Bowie
Encore: Good Times Bad Times
[1] Without microphones.
[2] Phish debut; All Fall Down signal.
Performers: Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon
Notes: Sweet Adeline was performed without microphones. Trey rollerbladed through the crowd during Weekapaug. Baby Elephant Walk made its Phish debut at this show and contained an All Fall Down signal before returning to Bowie. This show (with the exception of Sweet Adeline) was made available as a Live Phish archival release.
This show was part of the "1992 Fall Tour."
On to Ohio! Tenth show of Fall tour and the only show at Denison ever. Really good energy tonight coupled with a great sounding recording where you can hear a little crowd, and a little stage banter between band members. Of course it's a good show, they officially released this one!
Standard start with a solid Landlady to get things going. Right into a nice and tight My Sweet One. Melt is also good and tight. Nice jam and no messing around tonight. They are really going from one song into another with almost no pauses. Bouncing is pretty standard, maybe a few spots from Page. A little sub-par. Rift is cooking tonight, but still a little loose at times. Not quite tight. Cavern is good but, also has a few spots in it. Fluff is good for the most part but, each member has their own rough spot. Trey says thank you as Fish leads them right into a ripping Maze. Is there any other kind? Page rocks as usual but, there is a little weakness in the hand over to Trey and also Trey rushes the end making it awkward. Adeline was cut from the recording I heard and makes sense with all the shushing of the times. Mike's is good, and has one of the first times I can remember them going to an F in the jam like they are going into Simple! Not to be for a few more years. Hydrogen is better tonight but, still has a tentative feel to it. Very uncertain. Weekapaug starts off with what sounds like Page tuning his piano. I read that Trey was rollerblading through the crowd so that might explain it. Anyway, good jam in Weekapaug and a great way to end a good set.
After a brief discussion between Page and Trey we have a rocking Axilla to start off second set. Still has a little of that uncertain new song feel so far but a great jam even though Page used the piano for his solo. Right into a Curtain which catches Mike a little off guard at first but, ends up being ok. Chalkdust is it's normal rocking self. Not bad. My Friend's intro has gotten better and tonight is a really good song overall. Nice ending, a la Frank Oz. After a brief explanation from Trey, ATR is pretty tight and well played. Maybe just a pinch off here and there. You can hear Trey call out Uncle Pen and they proceed to flub the intro a little. Not too bad, and very up tempo. So you can hear the call out for Llama and Fish and Trey joke about something which causes them to completely blow the intro to an otherwise rocking version. Page then starts the usual HYHU joke to bring out Henrietta! Super swinging, fast Love You tonight. Funny band intros and solos including a great vacuum solo. Page continues teasing HYHU on what sounds like a Casio keyboard before a very rusty sounding Dinner. Really rusty, right into what I thought would be a Bowie but, turned into the first of only two Baby Elephant Walks. Introduced by Trey and again features the Casio sounding keyboard. A standard sounding Bowie follows up and makes for a good set closer.
Only time for one encore tonight and GTBT does the job. Trey rips it, and Page digs in for some soulful vocals. Well done.
Really good show overall, great energy, and like I said earlier they officially released this one so, it must be good right? Check it out.

Phish 12/6/97
The Palace at Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, MI
Phish's third show at The Palace on December 6, 1997 was yet another defining fall '97 gig, with an under-recognized set I and a renowned set II that must be heard in one sitting, preferably loud with headphones. As they rounded the bend into the final week of this storied fall tour, the band had a confident swagger that exploded in The Palace with a flood of combined energy that flows through on the tapes. The Palace is deep in the suburbs but this Saturday night show in the home of The Pistons was a slam dunk that reverberated throughout Detroit Rock City and beyond.

Set II: Party Time, Light -> Golden Age > Theme From the Bottom, Heavy Things > Ghost > Sneakin’ Sally through the Alley > 46 Days > Suzy Greenberg
Set III: Cavern, Steam > Auld Lang Syne > Down with Disease[2], The Wedge, Alaska, Wading in the Velvet Sea, First Tube
Encore: Slave to the Traffic Light
[1] Auld Lang Syne tease from Trey.
[2] Unfinished.
Notes: Fluffhead contained an Auld Lang Syne tease from Trey. Prior to Steam, a steam kettle and hot plate went off on stage, with Trey acting like he was attempting to put out the steam. Shortly after the song began, steam also came from the floor near the soundboard area. An amp (with the steam kettle on it), a keytar, a bass, a vacuum, and a few lights were then lifted off the stage. A woman in the front of the stage tossed a “Steam” sign into the front row, then rose with a barricade and security guard before eventually being lifted up over the band. Several other aerialists (clothed in various casual attire, equipped with black backpacks emitting smoke and lights on their backs) subsequently rose up from the crowd and ascended and descended several times. The first aerialist counted down to midnight, at which point balloons were released from the ceiling. The aerialists later returned with lights in their hands for Down with Disease, which also featured Trey and Mike being raised up and back down a few times before finally rising several feet on hydraulic lifts. Disease was unfinished.
[Review]
It’s not the ball drop, but for tens of thousands of people, Phish’s annual run of shows at Madison Square Garden, which winds up on New Year’s Eve, is the more significant year-end event in Manhattan. Always an immediate sellout (but still available for pay per view at livephish.com), the concerts are both a tradition and a challenge. Phish has to provide its familiar joys but vary them enough to surprise fans who are obsessively meticulous tabulators.
Thursday night’s concert was Phish in crowd-pleasing mode: uptempo, playing familiar songs and ready to keep fans dancing — never getting too abstract or experimental. Its two sets were both CD-length, just under 80 minutes each, with the Rolling Stones’ “Loving Cup” as a splashy, gospelly encore.
This was the Phish that’s so light-fingered that its remarkable musicianship is often taken for granted; after all, things just keep bubbling along. The camaraderie of musicians who have been playing together since 1983 (with two major breaks) was acted out in the way each player’s improvisations peeked out and then tucked themselves back into the band.
Mike Gordon’s bass double timed its way into counterpoint and then eased back toward riff. Page McConnell’s keyboards, particularly Hammond organ, pushed forward with insistent, meaty chords, and then dissolved into support. Jon Fishman’s drumming rode the rhythms as much as it defined them. And Trey Anastasio’s lead guitar, the band’s dominant instrument, regularly stepped out, more pointed and purposeful than in some of Phish’s past phases: with wailing long blues lines or twangy little jabs, with ambling chromatic lines or quick filigrees. Yet instead of tracing the full storytelling arc of a guitar hero’s solo, they tapered away, handing off the spotlight to another member of the group.
Like every worthy jam band, Phish flaunted its variety. It opened with the meter-shifting, harmonically labyrinthine song “The Sloth” and the quick arpeggios of “You Enjoy Myself,” demonstrating its ensemble precision; it also jammed vigorously on basic two-chord grooves.
The band breezed from nimble jigs to progressive-rock pomp in “Guyute,” leaned on the funk of “The Moma Dance” and mobilized the bluegrassy lilt (with warped chord progressions) of “Run Like an Antelope.”
It chose more than a few songs with lyrics steeped in self-doubt — the recent “Show of Life,” “Mike’s Song,” “Back on the Train,” “Roses Are Free” and a relative rarity at Phish shows, “Lifeboy” — but played them with thoroughgoing ease. There was one stretch of a darker mood: “Maze,” conjuring the lyrics’ paranoia with a modal, insistent bass line and radar-blip keyboards before making its way to its own major-key redemption.
Along with “Lifeboy,” there was an unexpected twist: “Chalk Dust Torture,” a Phish staple that still delights disgruntled undergraduates, somehow evolved during the jam into the recognizable melody of “I Am Hydrogen,” played considerably faster than usual. It was the kind of variation that makes Phish’s fans take notice, though it wasn’t exactly a grand innovation.
This was just a big, happy Phish party. The musicians’ fingers flew; lights splayed above the stage; glowsticks were tossed, in mass bursts, at big transitions; balloons bounced around; the year-end ritual was intact. Thursday’s concert was a high-level holding action; the next one, as always, might be something else entirely.

SHOW NOTES
This was the 1st Phish Halloween show to take place outside Vermont. It was an all-ages show on the campus of Colorado College. The tickets called the venue "Armstrong Theatre" and indicated "Costume Required". Tcket prices were $7 for students, $9 for general public or $10 day-of-show. The Buried Alive opener included teases of Dave's Energy Guide. Possum was punctuated by Oom Pah Pah secret language. Mike teased The Munsters Theme during You Enjoy Myself, which led into a vocal jam based on A Night In Tunisia (Dizzy Gillespie cover). Set II began with a costume contest that was won by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. During Big Black Furry Creature From Mars, Mike dragged the microphone across the stage with his mouth. A recording of this show was released via: eMusic.com on 10/31/99, making it Phish's 1st official online release. This archival release is also believed to have been the 1st ever commerical download release of a full, live concert by any band.

Phish - 2012-09-01 Commerce City, C.O. HD Webcast
On the heels of Friday’s blue-ribbon show that saw Phish spin an entire concert out of a mere 15 tunes, the four-top rallied for its second-of-three shows at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park Saturday with a relentlessly creative session that belongs in the band’s most hallowed trophy case.
With an 11-song first set engorged with jam and a second set pinnacle of Phish’s most cohesive, expressive work raging within a 48-minute “Golden Age > Prince Caspian > Light,” Saturday night was as memorable as it gets for Phish fans.
The syrupy first set stomped through a dense display, with red-trousered bassist Mike Gordon reining most every tune to a just-shy-of-normal tempo. The first set “Tweezer” – while falling way short of last year’s infamous rendition – bubbled with a simmering clarity. Gordon popped through a rowdy “Fluffhead” and “Roses Are Free” into a buoyant, bubbling “Funky Bitch” that stirred the nearly sold-out soccer stadium.
As the blue moon waned over Commerce City, Phish unleashed the four-headed monster for the second set. While Friday’s memorable and applauded show – an acronym-themed burner that saw every tune, from the formulaic “Alaska” to the free-form “You Enjoy Myself” elongated into treasure-hunting missions – saw Phish sculpt huge, stand-alone jams, Saturday’s display was more fluid.
The second-set opener “Golden Age” was the shot across the bow, warning everyone in Dick’s grassy fiefdom that it was time to go deep. Captain Trey Anastasio worked slowly into his fiery rendition of the TV on the Radio tune, building calculated yet inspired riffs. The 24-minute “Light” that emerged from “Prince Caspian” was one of the most thorough, intricate excursions ever for the expressive Vermont quartet. Starting with Anastasio’s Plinko picking, “Light” morphed into an ethereal, flowing masterpiece anchored with the band’s cohesive concoctions. The vibrant riffing deep inside “Light” revealed Phish at its best, giddily elevating random musical delicacies unearthed in a four-way excavation.
The oft-heard complaints that Phish returned from its sabbatical in 2009 listing toward brevity have been dashed this summer as the band now regularly roots through 25-minute jams. Friday night’s show saw all kinds of drawn-out jamming, just on tunes that Phish rarely jams. Saturday’s show marked a return to form, with Anastasio and drummer Jon Fishman exploding inside especially rambunctious tunes like “Moma Dance” and Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman.” The moaning “No Quarter” sandwiched between Gordon’s tangy “Mike’s Song” and “Weekapaug Groove” saw Anastasio’s echoing blasts painting a funky, psychedelic spin on the haunting Led Zeppelin tune.
Upon returning for a “Sleeping Monkey” encore, Anastasio told the crowd that Fishman nearly fainted after his relentless bombing in the second set. Not even the snoozy second-set “Horse > Silent In The Morning” provided enough time for Fishman to rest.
Back-to-back blasters at Dick’s has cemented the venue as one of Phish’s most welcomed halls. Both Friday and Saturday night are shows that will resonate for years among the band’s eager flock, with both heralding the silly, sporadic intensity that keeps us showing up every night.

Page, Mike and Fishman then thanked the crowd as well. Finally, Trey added that "We'd also like to say, 'fuck your face'." The soundcheck Jam contained a Three Little Birds quote by Mike and a Don't Worry Be Happy quote by Trey.

Phish Dicks Webcast
Video from Phish's three night run at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce, CO.
I downloaded the webcast from another source, but it was a direct FLV dump from LP, which is great, but I wanted something to play on my PS3.
So, I demuxed the FLVs and remuxed them into TS files. All I had to do was convert the audio to AC3. The video is untouched.
Thought you guys might want it, too. :)
